Ellon U18 Girls had their first fixtures of the season in the Brewin Dolphin Northern qualifiers. They travelled to Ross Sutherland to play Caithness, Oban and Ross Sutherland. The three games were played in great spirits and for most of the team who had never played before, they did exceptionally well. Although they lost all three games, their performance and effort was praised by the officials. Their coaches Alana and Katie were very pleased with their efforts and delighted that they had a chance to learn so much. Nikki Simpson was praised for her playing ability.
Ellon Girls rugby is developing well and numbers are growing; now they have a full U18 team. They are always looking for more players so come down and join in. They have an U15 and U18 team, and train Mondays 18:00 and Saturday 10:30 at the Meadows. They cover the whole NE from Aberdeen to Old Meldrum and north to Peterhead and Fraserburgh. They have recently been supported by GDH Steading Conversions as their main sponsor, and three other local companies (Alan Donald, International Doors and Windows and Newline). These companies really see the growth in girl’s rugby and that Ellon Rugby need supporting to develop this.
